A Box of Music. A Slush of Memories.

Exactly nine years ago, a boy auditioned for a school choir. His audition was all of a sudden. It was not expected of him to do that especially in a exclusive boys school where most of the students' life revolve around sports, academics and other things that he doesn't know which at that time was "forbidden" for him to know about . "I auditioned because I want to try new things aside from sports and academics" that is what he said if someone dared to ask him but the truth is he is neither good in sports nor he is an exceptional student in the class which technically, makes him a little bit of a failure if people would classify him. So, he decided to continue on his auditions just to prove himself that he can do anything and that he could be at least be exceptional at one field of arts; thus, proving to himself that he isn't a failure.

He can't back out anymore because he's already at the music room where the auditions where held. There where three of them auditioning for the spot. All of them are classmates and close friends too."That should not be a problem we are close friends. Its okay to make some mistakes and they will not make a fool out me" but cold air is surrounding around him, a sign that he is having second thoughts about himself. Negative thoughts began running down on his head telling him that he's a failure, he won't be able to pass even this audition. It was his turn for him to step on the limelight and show what he got. As he was about to sing a single note, there was nothing that came out. He tried for a second time but still nothing came out of his tiny mouth. Then, he tried for the third, fourth and fifth time but still there's no significant change in the result. When the examiner, judge, proctor or a teacher (whatever you can call her) was about to give up on him, a voice, no! a note, came out of his mouth. It was not the right that the examiner wanted to have but she accepted the boy to the choir and placed him in the lowest voice range until he was able to control his voice.

The boy on the other hand, gained some confidence in himself. He gained some friends from the choir. Bit by bit he was able to conquer his negative thoughts regarding being a bunch of failure. He learned to sing different notes, different musical scales and lastly different musical compositions by famous classical compositors. He was able to join different concerts. Like in a every team, he learned that everyone is important which also includes him. He was able to realize his full potential and that he is not a failure. Overall, he was liking it. Music found its way to him and which he gratefully accepts it. Even though he was misunderstood by people, he never cared as long as there is music that gaves him life.

Like any other composition, there is always a ending. He sang for the choir for two years then he changed school. The music in him slowly died as his interest shifts to other field. The music gave him courage to conquer anything, teached him a valuable lesson that he isn't a failure. Though the music slowly died in him, he is very grateful to it. He never denied it. He became proud of it. He never had forgotten it. He always remembered and reminisced the past. And now, the boy tries it very hard to make its way back to music just like the music has done for him. He hoped that one day he will be able to come back to it.
